JavaScript is the most popular programming language of the Web, and is an absolute necessity for building modern, interactive applications. This chapter will be about the basics. There is a plethora of resources on learning JavaScript, and this is just a light introduction. My primary goal is to give you a basic understanding of syntax and functionality, because we'll be using it quite a bit in later chapters.
